De la Harpe is at present serving as the Managing Director of Tower of Hope Leadership Foundation in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and as the Lead Organizer for LF Africa.
Growing up in Bloemfontein in a pastor’s family, he completed his theological training at the University of the Free State, lateron adding a Master in New Testament Studies. After serving as a congregational pastor in Durban and Bloemfontein, he was given the opportunity to do a churchplant in an old dying inner-city church in Bloemfontein in 2008. This new ministry entailed not only a unique focus on vulnerable and marginalized people, but also included the founding of a NPO, Towers of Hope. Connecting with LF, Towers of Hope became a leadership foundation, playing a crucial role not only in the city of Bloemfontein, but also further afield.
Functioning as both the pastor of the Towers of Hope Community Church, and the MD of Towers of Leadership Foundation, De la Harpe also has the responsibility of industrial ministry (i.e. an ecumenical ministry program in the place of work) for the Free State province. He is furthermore a part-time lecturer in New Testament and Practical Theology at the Faculty of Theology of the local university, and part of the exco of the SACC (South African Council of Churches) in the Free State.Email De la Harpe
